Classes, Courses, Workshops and events

Weekly classes are designed for flexibility. Book weekly, in advance, or receive a 10% discount for booking 6 or more in a consecutive block.

Mondays 

Drawing and painting: 

All are welcome at this  playful and experimental class! You are encouraged to bring your own project ideas, in whatever medium that you choose and receive expert advice and guidance.  Class sizes are small, so you can work at your own pace.  However, if you don't know where to start,  or there is something that you would like to learn, we can discuss before hand and I can teach specific techniques and processes, to encourage and inspire you!  

10.30-12pm;  resuming 7th September (nb there will be no classes on 26th October, 21st December or 28th December)

Cost: £22 per class - basic materials included. This can be useful if you are beginner. As your confidence grows, you may wish to purchase your own materials to be able to work at home/in between classes. Advice can be given on what you might need. 

Watercolours: 

A class for those wishing to explore watercolour paints and pencils. Bring your own project ideas and photographs to work from and receive expert guidance and tuition. Groups are small, so sessions can be tailored to suit individuals and their preferred pace. If you are not sure where to start,  to what your would like to paint, you are still very welcome!  Let me know and we can get you started on your journey.

Cost: Book weekly in advance: £15  - bring your own materials. £16 materials included. 

Wednesdays: 

Coffee, Cake and Creativity: 

An hour of art and relaxation. This is not meant as a formal art class. This is an opportunity to creatively play and to express yourself. Think doodling, stencilling, print-making, collage and abstract painting! There will be ideas and suggestions each week. 

10.30-11.30am beginning Wednesday 9th September , running weekly. (there will be no classes on 16th September, 28th October, 28th December)

Cost: £12- materials included. But you are welcome to (and encouraged) to bring sketch books, patterned papers, or any art materials that you want to play with!

Painting: This class is currently full  - please get in touch to join the waiting list 

This class is best suited to those that have a little background knowledge and confidence, but all are very welcome! You can choose which medium, and bring your own projects and ideas and receive expert guidance and tuition in a lovely small group environment.

Wednesdays 1.30-3pm   - From 2nd September  ( there will be no classes on 16th September, 28th October, 21st and 28th December) 

Cost: £22 per class - basic materials can be provided, but you may wish to bring your own so that you can work in between classes and continue to work at home. I can advise you on what to purchase. 

Thursdays: 

Drawing and Painting

A weekly class for those that need flexibility, a space to create and an environment to be with like-minded people!  Groups are small, allowing for lots of 1-to-1 guidance and easy group discussions. You will need to bring your own project ideas to work on, in any medium. 

Time: 10-11am or 10-11.30am - from 3rd September (no classes on 29th October, 24th December, 31st December. Classes will resume on 7th January. 

Cost: £15 for 10-11am, £22 for 10-11.30am   - bring your own materials or for £16/£23 respectively to include materials. 

Painting and Drawing for the younger artist: please contact me to be added to the waiting list

This class is suited to secondary -school age children.  These classes give children the opportunity to develop skills in a small group environment, with lots of 1-2-1 tuition, to help them progress in their art.  We will explore a wide range of techniques, processes and different media, responding to a brief, with lots of scope for self-expression.  Children will need to be dropped off and picked up and have a sensible and focused attitude, as this is a working studio.

Time:  4-5pm New term begins 7th September (holidays by arrangement) 

£6 for a taster and then classes are booked in termly blocks, approx £12.50 per class. Materials are included for most activities although there maybe some projects that might require a supplement charge.

Watercolours for Beginners: 

A course for those wishing to start their journey into watercolours or for those needing a refresh. We will cover the basics, starting with techniques and simple exercises. As the course progresses, you are encouraged to bring your own project ideas and photographs to work from and receive expert advice and tuition. Class sizes are small, allowing for lots of 1-2-1 guidance and easy class discussions. 

Tuesday 8th September - Tuesday 20th October

1-2.30/3pm

Cost: £140. Basic materials can be provided for the first couple of  sessions. If you would like to invest in your own, I can advise you on what to purchase or pay a supplement for continued use of the studio materials. 

Drawing: For all. 

There are many benefits to learning how to, or improving drawing skills: it can improve your memory, sharpens your focus and can lower stress. From quick doodling to sustained observation, it builds better hand-eye coordination and helps you to see the world in a more detailed way. Improving your drawing skills will have a positive impact on your work as a painter or sculptor and we can often forget to build it into own practice. In this course, we will explore a wide range of drawing materials and techniques and the use of 'sketch-books'. Our practice and journey, will be more about the enjoyment of  the process than the final outcome.  

Tuesday 3rd November-Tuesday 15th December 2026

1-2pm 

Cost: £110 - basic paper and pencils included. 

Acrylics for beginners: 

This course is an introduction to painting with acrylics. We will explore grounds, surfaces, underpainting, and the tools and tricks to create pleasing compositions. Acrylics are a fantastically versatile and forgiving paint. This course will be playful and experimental. Encouraging you to find your own style. We will start with techniques and excercises, and as the course progresses, you will be encouraged to bring along your own project ideas, photographs to work from or objects to paint. 

Tuesday 5th January - 9th February 2027

1-3pm 

Cost: £140 - acrylic paper and basic paints /brushes are included for the first couple of sessions. If you would like to invest in your own materials, I can advise on what to purchase, or pay a supplement to continue using the studio supplies.

Acrylic Painting:  Intermediate. 

An opportunity for those with some experience of painting with acrylics, to come and paint with expert tuition and guidance.  Class sizes are small so you will benefit from lots of 1-2-1 teaching. You will need to bring your own materials, project ideas and resources, such as your own photographs. There will be the opportunity to learn and explore new skills and techniques, such as impasto painting, using a palette knife and using mixed-media.

2nd November - 14th December  - spaces available

Cost: £140  

There is the potential for this to be an on-going class, for those wishing to really build their skills and expertise. Book early to secure your space. 

Painting: Intermediate: 7 weeks

You have the materials/kit. You have some knowledge and previous experience of painting, but you perhaps don't know how to get going sometimes or have the motivation or even space to paint at home. So a painting class is what you need. Bring your own materials. project ideas and resources. Come and paint in a lovely small group and receive expert tuition and guidance (and lots of encouragement). Class sizes are small, so you will benefit from lots of 1-2-1 teaching and peer discussions. 

Tuesday 8th September-20th October 2026

7-8.30/9pm

Cost: £140 

Portraits and Figures: 6 weeks

There is more to drawing and painting portraits than creating an exact 'photographic' representation of a person. This 6 week course will help you to explore the possibilities and build skills, in capturing the essence and character, through the use of different materials and techniques. The course will be tailored to individuals and their previous experiences. 

Tuesday 5th January 2027- Tuesday 9th February 2027

Time: 7-8.30/9pm

Cost: £135 - materials are included. Feel free to bring your own.

Watercolours for beginners/revisitors: 5 weeks

A  short 'whistle-stop tour' type of course for those wishing to explore, learn or refresh their watercolour painting skills! Think lots of  playful experimentation, enjoying the process, learning and practicing techniques and getting to know your materials! 

Tuesday 23rd February 2027 - Tuesday 23rd March 2027.

Time: 7-8.30/9pm

Cost: £130- materials are included. I am happy to advise if you would like to purchase some to work at home etc.

Watercolour Seascapes. 

Paint water and skies, boats and birds, reflections and texture. We will practice some techniques and build these into a piece of work. Ideally bring along a photograph that you have taken (printed/on your phone) to paint from/inspire you. 

Friday 25th September: 12.15-2.45pm

£35 - materials and light refreshments included.

Coffee, Cake and Collage.

Fun, playful, and therapeutic. A time to relax and enjoy creating: this workshop is relaxed and its is not so much a formal art class as a chance to experiment, play and get creative!  We will use magazines and patterned papers and other materials to create a collaged piece, with some yummy homemade refreshments! 

Friday 9th October : 10.30-12pm

£35 - materials and homemade cake included! 

Expressive Portraits:

There is more to portraiture than capturing a  realistic and exact likeness. Wealthy portrait 'commissioners', would often be painted holding an object, or dressed a certain way, to show something about themselves. Bodies and postures, can also tell you alot about a person! Bring photographs or images if you would like. 

In this workshop, we will use lots of paint, mixed media, big brushes and big sheets of paper! 

Friday 23rd October:  12-2.30/3pm

Halloween/Autumnal inspired art for kids and carers: theme tbc! - register your interest and I will let you know more asap! 

Saturday 24th October: 10.30am -11.30/12pm or 1-2/2.30pm

A Pier at Sunset:

A 'sip and paint' type of vibe! A step by step workshop to paint an expressive seascape, featuring a pier in silhouette, against a vibrant sunset sky!  I will lead you through the session as we paint together on an a canvas using acrylic paints. 

Friday 6th November: 10.30-12.30pm

Cost: £35 - materials and light refreshments included. 

Christmas cards and festive treats! 

Hand-paint some lovely festive cards. There will be a couple of designs to learn, which you can then re-create at home if you wish. 

Tuesday 1st December: 7pm-9pm AND/OR Friday 4th December: 10.30-12.30pm

Painting 'of' a Bauble: 

Looking for a festive creative activity that isn't wreath making? Come and paint a large bright shiny festive bauble. hanging from some evergreen, to hang on your wall this Christmas! We will be working in acrylics on canvas. If you'd rather paint a favourite hanging decoration instead, bring it along!
